Singer/
songwriter/ guitar player/ drummer Joe Arevalo, aka Big Fatty, is from San Antonio
Texas and for the last ten years has resided in a little community called El Jardin
in Seabrook, TX. Joe is a gifted musician with a very powerful voice that often
does not need amplification and has the ability to harmonize with everyone. The
fact that Joe is a south paw ( "correct handed" as he puts it ) coupled
with his soulful booming vocals makes him very entertaining and a must see. Joe
currently performs in venues all around the area with his band Big Fatty and is
involved in several side projects including a second venture with the country
band "Messin' With Texas." Some of Joe's previous bands were the Royal
Jesters from San Antonio in 1969 before moving to the Houston area in 1972. Since
moving to Houston Joe has predominantly pursued a solo career but did briefly
play with "Retrospect" and "Messin' With Texas." Joe's current
band "Big Fatty" consists of Lonnie Rivera on harp/vocals, Rick Valiente
guitar/vocals and Murry Blades on vocals/bass/guitar. In addition to performing
at venues all around the Houston/San Antonio area Big Fatty has also performed
with Texas Johnny Brown at Down On Main Street in Baytown TX, El Jardin Bayfest,
the Seabrook Music Festival, various benefits and hosts several acoustic jams
in the area. In regards to the name "Big Fatty," you'll have to ask
Joe where that came from.
